The green roof sedum tray is a ready-to-use green roof element. This element is very compact (37,3x57,3cm) and lightweight, making it very labour-friendly to install. The Intergard® green roof sedumtray is a tray made of recycled HDPE. The tray is pre-grown with 6 to 8 different types of high-quality sedum. The plants grow on a specially developed substrate. On delivery, the sedum tray is always covered with at least 95% vegetation. The succulent sedum plant is well able to store water in its leaves and can therefore function excellently under various weather conditions. The cassettes are made of plastic, which are produced by means of a mould. Plastic is injected here under high pressure, when retracting the "nozzle" it can sometimes be that small dots arise. To prevent perforation of the roof covering, it is recommended to use a protective cloth. Sedum plants are also very suitable for placing in warm countries such as countries around the Mediterranean area. The sedum plant can even survive in those climates. Sedum is a succulent plant and will survive in extreme conditions with relatively little maintenance. Often the sedum will turn red in extreme heat, this is a sign of stress of the plant. In principle, nothing needs to be done immediately, but if there is no precipitation for days/weeks, it is good to apply some irrigation. Of course it is good to give food twice a year and water every now and then during long, persistent dry periods. But actually, the sedum will recover fairly quickly when the extreme conditions subside. This tray can be used on flat and slightly sloping roofs with an angle of inclination of up to 20 degrees. A shear provision is recommended for a roof inclination of 10 degrees or more. Results from this research show that the tested sedum can make a functional contribution to biodiversity. In intensively used urban and agricultural areas, a green roof with herbaceous and flowery vegetation offers butterflies, bees and hoverflies in any case food and/or possibly good reproductive opportunities that are not available in the vicinity.
